Hashimoto's Thyroiditis

Hashimoto's is an auto-immune condition which starts due to the body's own immune system attacking the healthy thyroid tissue. Reseach shows that the initial start of this is primarily linked to inflammation which causes an excess in thyroid hormones and this can present in an over-active thyroid gland (hyperthyroidism). Due to the Thyroid gland being over stimulated this causes an underproduction of the thyroid hormones and this then leads to Hypothyroidism.

An Underactive (Hypothyroidism) thyroid can lead to side effects which we would like to prevent by helping the thyroid to produce more of the hormone in its active form and down regulating the inflammatory process. Some of the symptoms of an underactive thyroid include: difficulty sleeping, hair loss, rapid heartbeat, irritability, nervousness, sweating, feeling cold, irregular bowel movements, inability to lose weight and muscle weakness.
